IMPORTANT:  Each driver and mechanic must sign in at registration desk the day of show and have their cars inspected solely to determine compliance with those rules and not for purpose of determining safety of car or participant NO REFUNDS!

 

 DRIVER MUST ATTEND DRIVERS’ MEETING PRIOR TO DEMOLITION DERBY OR DRIVER MAY BE DISQUALIFIED.

 

I have read the rules and acknowledge to have received a copy of same and agree that the decision of the Judges is final.  I agree to participate at my own risk absolutely.  It is a condition of my participation in the contest that I sign a further release of liability in the form to be supplied by Impact Motorsports and I agree to sign such a release.

 

SPECIAL NOTICE: No alcohol or drugs allowed in any restricted AREA.

 

Any violations will result in disqualification of CAR, DRIVER AND CREW.

The IMPACT Motorsports Demolition Derby is promoted as an unusual spectator attraction.

DRIVERS and MECHANICS are subject to and must obey the following rules and regulations which are set up by the promoter and the track where this event is being held:

 

  1. Each driver must be a minimum age of 16. All 16 & 17 year olds must have a parent or guardians sign an insurance waiver. Guardian must provide photo ID.
  2. The original registered driver must drive that vehicle for the entire event. No substituting drivers.
  3. Impact Motorsports or promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries, drivers or pit persons.
  4. Only drivers and mechanics who sign the release sheet will be permitted in the pit area or on the track. Driver and one (1) pit person receive free pit passes upon registration of car on day of show. All drivers and pit person must wear supplied pit passes.
  5. IMPACT Motorsports, the promoter, track owner or fair association will not be held responsible for any cars, parts or personal property before, during and after the show.
  6. Each competitor to carry their liability insurance. Impact Motorsports policy does not cover participants.
  7. Drivers and mechanics should report to the Impact Motorsports sign in area minimum of an hour before the scheduled start time.
  8. IMPACT MOTORSPORTS reserves the right to ask all pit persons for photo ID. All drivers and mechanics are in the pit area at their own risk.

 

Type of Car

 

2017 Pro Stock rules open to older. 6-8 cylinder hardtop or station wagons with a wheelbase of 106” or larger. This is NOT a 1980 and new class as of 2016

  1. NO trucks, convertibles, jeeps, vans, Imperials, suicide door Lincolns, hearses, limousines or checker cabs. If you unsure of a rule contact us via email.
  1. Cars previously run in demos may be considered too battered and unsafe, resulting in disqualification.
  2. If there is in any question regarding the participant’s vehicle it is the driver’s responsibility to prove make, model, year, engine etc.

2016  RULES ARE NOW OPEN TO OLDER  FULL SIZE CARS. NO SUB/FULL FRAME CHRYSLERS

 

RUNNING

 

Risk: Demolition derbies are hazardous and high-risk sports; therefore, anyone with a health condition, i.e., concussion, heart problems etc. or who is pregnant should not compete.

Protect yourself. Work Boots, sport equipment – e.g. neck brace, knee pads are recommended.

No bare exposed skin.  All drivers MUST wear long pants/coveralls or long sleeved shirts. No exceptions.

Working seat belt and racing helmet are mandatory.  Helmets MUST have chin straps. Goggles or face shields are recommended.

BRAKES – Vehicles must have dependable brakes and must be working properly before entering pen at all times.  All boundaries must be observed.

NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON TRACK, EMERGENCY VEHICLE AREA OR IN THE PIT AREA.  Any driver or pit person under the influence of alcohol or drugs allowed in the pit area. This will be strictly enforced.

Competitive aggressive hits!  Careless driving in the pit area could result in disqualification.

All cars are to be removed from the fairgrounds or racetrack immediately following the show.

Additional safety regulations may be imposed, depending on track and conditions.

Any protests must be made within 5 minutes of the last feature heat by another feature driver. Protest fee’s are $100 and are non refundable.

All decisions of the official are final. NO REFUNDS!!

ALL drivers and pit persons MUST sign the event insurance waiver. Failing to do so will result in disqualification. Pit passes must be worn at all times.

Preparation of car MUST BE DONE prior to arriving.     Pro Stock – 2017                                                                                                                                 

 1. Flammable Material

All carpet, headliner, door pads and ALL other flammable material MUST be removed from inside of car. Front seat and dashboard may be left in place. Sunroofs must be covered.

2. Glass/airbags

All windows, mirrors, airbags & trim, must be removed prior to derby event. No loose glass smashed into the bottom of doors. DRIVERS SAFETY

 3. Doors & Numbers

Driver door must be PAINTED WHITE. An optional roof number plate may be securely installed.  No all white vehicles. 3/4 of the ddriver’sdoor must be painted white.

 4. Fire Extinguisher

Must be within reach of the driver, must work and have a proper working gauge. Please check gauge on the extinguisher before arriving for the event.

 5. Battery

 ONE 12 volt battery must be moved to front passenger floor board and securely fastened in a box/container clear of all fuel sources. Following inspection it must be covered with a non-flammable shield such as rubber mat or steel cover. Max 1 battery.

 6. Gas Tank

Stock gas tanks must be removed. Must be a steel marine tank, custom steel fuel tank, or certified racing fuel cell.  Plastic tanks MUST have a rubber floor mat mounted between the floor and tank. All tanks must be securely fastened down (bolted) in the middle of the back seat area. Tank must be covered with a non-flammable material (rubber mat) after inspection. No movement to occur during inspection. Leaks will result in disqualification. NO GAS TANK PROTECTORS.  Tank/bracket MUST be 15″ away from the rear sheet metal. If gas tanks are mounted on the seat bar the bracket/tank cannot in anyway act as a gas tank protector. No exceptions.

 7.  Fuel Lines

All fuel lines must have leak proof fitting with steel or rubber lines (no clear lines). No exceptions. Lines should run inside car. Leaks will result in disqualification. All connections MUST have hose clamps to eliminate fuel leaks.

 8. Electric Fuel Pump

Must have a safety shut off switch marked in red located on roof in center of the windshield area for officials use. Switch to control fuel pump only. Driver’s safety. MANDATORY. This rule is for fuel injected cars only. Switch MUST be visible from 20′ away by the flag men

 9. Fuel System

Electric fuel pump must be isolated with a non-flammable material covering lines, tank & pump. Example: covering may be fire resistant blanket or air bag material.

10. Hood

Hoods are not mandatory. Without hood – use electric fan only – fans directly connected to motor must be removed. A 12” opening must be cut in the center of the hood. Hoods must remain open for officials’ inspection. Hood must be fastened down in maximum of 8 places including threaded rod or with seat belt strapping, wire, chain only, or bolted to fender. Hood latch should be removed. No welding hoods closed. Hoods/rad support can be wired to bumper in 4 places.  Maximum of 2 spots with threaded rod maximum of ¾ inch holding the hood shut. These spots will account for 2 of the 8 spots. No limit on 3/8 bolts in hood panel only. Tabs can be welded to hood/fender and bolting hood closed. Front rubber/body mounts must be in place. Can be substituted with a hockey puck.

11. TRUNK/TAILGATE

Trunk/tailgate can be wired, chained or strapped closed. Trunks/tailgates can be wired, strapped or chained in 4 places to rear bumper. Maximum of 2 spots with threaded rod maximum of ¾ inch holding the trunk shut. Max washer size 4X4 for threaded rod.  Hood/gate can be fastened closed in a max of 8 places total. Trunk can be bent or creased down. Speaker deck must remain in factory position.  No other body creasing.

12. Body Panels

Metal may be cut from around wheels for clearance.  Front & rear quarter panels may be bolted with up to 5 bolts per panel – maximum 3/8” bolt. NO BODY CREASING

13. Door Fastening

All doors must be fastened shut with chain, wire, straps- Max 8 spots per door. Solid driver’s door window screens are not permitted.  Driver’s choice.  NO WELDING DOORS CLOSED. ONLY drivers door can have 8 3X3″ plates welded to hold door closed.

14. DOOR PLATES

Outside of car may have a 12” X 72” X ¼” max steel plate applied to driver & passenger doors, bolted in 8 locations with a maximum 3/4″” through bolt- NO WELDING SIDE PLATES.  NO “C” CHANNEL OR ANGLE IRON. Not mandatory. Drivers side highly recomended.

15. Roll bar

Single roll bar up each door frame, inside or across outside of the roof. Roll bars going across the roof can be bolted twice through the roof for driver safety. This roll bar may be welded or bolted to the frame or rockers. If bolted 2 -3/4″ bolts per side. ONE additional bar can be added behind the seat welded or bolted from roll bar to roll bar.  4″ MAX square tubing or pipe. No excessive use of materials.  Not mandatory. Seat/roll bars not to extend past back of driver’s seat. ONE bar can run down the inside of doors from dash bar to seat bar creating a square around the driver.  Bar over roof cannot be attached to any other bar on the car except the rear seat bar. Not to the rear window bar, dash bar, side bars or front window bar. ONE bar can run between the seats from dash bar to seat bar to attach the shifter and must be 12″ off the floor.  THIS is a basic safety cage around the driver with a halo bar and 2 down bars.

16. Front/Rear Window area

Must have a minimum of a single steel bar or chain from the cowl to the roof bolted or welded. The “A” or “H” style protection is permissible in the front window area. . The cross brace must be in the middle and in no way come in contact with the distributor protector.   Mounted from the cowl to the front portion of the roof. MUST be 12“ from the halo bar. Bars are for drivers protection NOT reinforcment.  No rear window bars.

17. Dash bar

Max 4”  tubing mounted door frame to door frame, but not to firewall. Dash bar must not touch the center section of the firewall and must not come in contact with the distributor protector. NO down bars off the bash bar.  Not Mandatory. Driver Safety.

18. Interior

      Modifications

No welding of any inside body support seams or firewall seams. All holes in firewall must be covered with a non- flammable material. Large holes in car floors must be repaired with same gauge metal and securely fastened. No reinforcement. Driver’s seat should be tied to roof or door post. If seat breaks driver could be disqualified.

19.  Bumpers

Any year. CAR BUMPERS ONLY, to be used. Front & rear bumpers may be reversed and flipped upside down. Bumpers may be wired in 4 locations to rad cradle or hood. Bumper shocks may be reinforced with one piece of flat bar 3” wide to be welded from the top of the bumper to the frame- or bumper shocks can be welded with no added metal.. Excessive use of material will be asked to be removed. No loading of bumpers. Bumpers can be seam welded. Officials may request a hole be made in bumper for inspection. No metal added. Reinforcement will result in disqualification.  Stock style mounting brackets for the car you are running. If car had bumper shocks from factory it must have shocks in place. No hard nosing. No frame shortening.

21.  Radiator

Must be flushed of anti-freeze and replaced with water only. Overflows must point straight down. Stock AC condensers in front of rads only. No rad protectors. Rads must be mounted in stock position. Racing rads permitted.

22. Transmission

      Cooler

Is permitted and must be secured in engine compartment. Transmission dipstick must be securely fastened, wired down or have an overflow tube pointing straight down away from drivers or spectators. OR can be re-located to directly behind driver seat, bolted to the back bar and completely covered to the floor with a tin shroud. A minimum of two 1” holes must be made in the floorboard directly below cooler for drainage. Hoses must run straight down under driver seat and be completely covered with non-flammable material. Hose spec: 2500psi single braid hydraulic hose with pressed fittings only must be rated for 250°F+.  Hydraulic hoses must have pressed fittings only. No other fittings acceptable.

23. DRIVE TRAIN PROTECTORS

Fresh cars must have distributor protectors mounted 1” away from the firewall. Excessive material will be asked to be removed. Dist/engine protectors not to be attached to frame or car body. Protectors can only be fastened to motor or transmission. Reinforcement of frame or body will result in disqualification.  Engine cradles must be designed to protect the drive train only. Not to be fastened to body or frame. Distributor Protector MUST not come in contact with window/dash bar at any time. NO trans braces, steel tailstock or aftermarket bell housings.
24. Suspension/Steering Suspension must remain stock. It is recommended that rear coils be wired/welded to differential. No spring blocks or added helpers. Gears may be welded.  Steering columns, drive shafts, front A arms. ball joints, rear control arms and steering linkage can be exchanged. Aftermarket or doubles rear arms allowed.  Slider shafts allowed. NO REINFORCING ALLOWED other than factory tie rods can be reinforced.  03+ Fords. A bolt in engine cross member is allowed for 2017 with STRICT ruling. Cross member MUST be constructed from an 80+ car crossmember. All control arms, steering box,  spindles ball joints ETC must be 80+ car parts. Allowed to use 3/16″ thick angle iron placed on the top of the frame no longer than 12″ and bolted in 4 places TOTAL using the FACTORY nuts on the frame with the stock size bolts. If deemed reinforcement the far with be cut or loaded. 

25. Frames

Rusty or bent frames may be repaired with steel no thicker than 1/4″ and no larger than 4”X4″ on 2 sides only.  All repairs to frames must be painted with a bright colour.– over-repaired frames will be asked to be cut – if not – may result in disqualification.  Maximum of 8 repair plates.. Front crush box tabs not to be welded.  Repair plates must have 3” between each plate. No butting or overlapping repair plates. No welding 2 different styles of frames together. No frame shortening. No seam welding. NO HUMP PLATES. NO TILTING FRAMES. NO FRAME SHORTENING. 

26. Diff protectors

Car rear ends only. No hybrid or truck rear ends. Rear ends can be switched- GM into Ford.  Protectors can be bolted or welded to the diff housing 3 sides only. Must not reinforce frame or body.  Rear wheel drive cars MUST have differential covers bolted on. Trailing arms MUST be stock. No altering. No Pinion brakes.

27. Motor mounts

Mounts may be welded or chained. Any excessive or added mounts will result in disqualification.  2 extra chains may run from engine upper control arm area in case a motor mount breaks. No extra chains, wires or straps from engine/transmission to frame or body. No welding of links NO Exceptions. Aftermarket mounts can be used. 

28. Body Mounts

All rubber stock body mounts and stock size bolts must stay in place. Increasing bolt size is not allowed. Max flat washer size – 3”. Four (4) additional body mounts up to ¾” inch threaded rod are allowed, placed strategically where desired or replace existing body mounts. Two threaded rods are allowed for the rad cradle that is not included in the additional 4.Two additional stock sized bolts may be added inside driver’s compartment for safety. Threaded rod must not extend to bottom of frames.

29. Tires

Drive tires must be low aggression. All tires must be filled with air only. Tires may be doubled. No split rims. No screwing tires to rim or studding. All wheel weights must be removed and no welding stem protections. Carry spare mud tires in case track conditions warrant.  Over aggressive drive tires may result in disqualification .Referee’s discretion. NO triple side walls on drive tires. Tread over ¼” deep maybe rejected. No bead locks, rim protectors. Weld in wheels centers are ok to change the bolt pattern. Skid/Fork tires allowed

30. Pre-bending

 Modifications deemed unsafe will result in disqualification. Trailer hitch MUST be removed. No body shaping other than the trunk. NO BODY CREASING. SPEAKER TRAY MUST BE STOCK.
